How do you sell your home when you don't even live in this country?

A question I am sure Jay struggled with for a long time before we met.  He was referred to me by a friend, and in our first conversation there was such relief in his voice.

Jay loved his Long Beach home.  He had filled it with beautiful things from around the world.  When he had the opportunity to move to Portugal, he couldn't pass it up.  He quickly found a tenant and off he went leaving his home full of his personal possessions.  His tenant took great care of everything.

When jay decided Portugal was his new home, he knew he would need to sell his home here and couldn't leave his tenant in place during the process.  Being on the other side of the world presented a unique situation.  Fortunately Jay and I are both computer literate and we found ways to move documents and utilize electronic signatures on contracts.

Jay gave me total freedom to prepare his home for sale.  I hired a stager who was in awe of Jay's possessions and literally just moved things around to display them in all their glory.  When we received an offer, Jay returned to Long Beach for the closing and to pack up his things.

We met for the first time for lunch at Cafe Picollo on Broadway which turned out to be a favorite spot for both of us.  We got along like old friends just as we had during the sale.  I miss our daily email exchanges and our occasional phone conversations.

Jay, thank you so much for having the confidence and trust in me even though you were a world away.  If you ever decide to move back, call me, it would be great to do it again!
